A Graduate from Cambridge University is heading over to India to volunteer in the country.
Gemma Lyons, from Braintree, is to embark on a ten-week expedition on July 4th, the Braintree and Witham Times Reports.
She aims to help out in a number of community projects that she hopes will improve sanitation facilities in some of the country's most deprived areas.
Ms Lyons said she decided to go ahead with the mission after completing a natural sciences degree at Cambridge University.
She explained: "I want to start a career in public health and by doing this project it will help me gain an insight into the problems these deprived countries face."
At the beginning of the month, the North Liberty Leader reported that Jim Wozniak, a US politician, is to fly out to India to help teach children at a rural school who have been affected by HIV and AIDS.
